The Great Race to Promontory
5K / 10K / Half Marathon
May 10–11, 2019
Wherever you want!
Imagine a world where the only way to move across land was by foot, horse or wagon!
Those were the only options for Americans when crossing from 'Sea To Shining Sea'. Until the Transcontinental Railroad was completed at Promontory Summit, Utah on May 10, 1869.
To commemorate the occasion, officials from The Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads drove a ceremonial Golden Spike connecting the two coasts and the nation.
We join with the Golden Spike National Historic Site to celebrate this momentous occasion 150 years later and you're invited—sign up now!

Other Important Details
Race weekend is officially May 10–11th. Registration will be open through that week as supplies last. We anticipate that most people will run that week BUT the advantage of having a virtual race is you can do it when and where works best for you. So it’s up to you. Because we strive to honor the tradition of in-person races, you’ll receive messages as if that is race day for you, but just know that we’re okay with it if you need to do something different.
To maintain the spirit of traditional events, we believe a finisher reward should be earned by finishing the race. We verify that you finished by requiring that you report your time to your account. If you do not report, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REWARD.
