Join the world's first competitive virtual race to see where you really stack up!
All are welcome!
Introducing the world's first competitive virtual race!
Join us for the very first use of a Compete Score™ to level the playing field for the best 5K.
The Compete Score™ takes into account speed, duration, elevation change, temperature, dew point, and wind to give all participants a specific score that can be compared against others regardless of when or where you do your race.
After you register for the race, make sure to create a Compete Running account by clicking here.
A virtual race is just like a traditional race with finisher medals, shirts and bibs. But you get to do your race when and where you want! Not convinced yet? Check out the 14 reasons why we think you'll like racing with us.
Participants can still do their race on their own time and when/where they choose, but using the proprietary "Compete Score", it levels the field.
This race is open to both casual and serious runners/walkers. Don't wait! See where you stack up by signing up today.
Registration starts at just $29.95, includes FREE Shipping and is available a la carte, so you can get just the swag you want

A virtual race has typically been a great way to have some fun and earn some great bling, but never has it had the same level of anticipation and competition as an in-person race – Until Now!
Introducing the world's first competitive virtual race. Participants can still do their race on their own time and when/where they choose, but using the proprietary "Compete Score", it levels the field.
The Compete Score takes into account speed, duration, elevation change, temperature, dew point, and wind to give all participants a specific score that can be compared regardless of when or where the individual races took place.
All participants interested in being considered in the results using a Compete Score will need to register for this race AND create an account at competerunning.com. You will also need a Strava account to sync to the Compete site. We suggest you sync your Strava and Compete Running accounts soon so you can start to track your runs and get an idea of what your baseline is.
Then the race will take place from October 17 through November 1. You will need to choose one of your runs during that period and submit that through the Compete Running website. After all scores are submitted, we will tabulate and verify results and release the rankings of who won!
Awards will be given to overall winners and gender and age-group winners.
In addition, our standard rules for virtual races apply. See more here:
To honor the spirit of traditional races, we require that anyone that registers for a medal can only earn their medal by finishing their race. We verify that a race is finished using the honor system by having participants report their finish time to their VRC account (created during the registration process & tied to the email address entered). Participants can take as long as they need to finish their race and can do it however works best for them. Most participants walk, run or hike their race and ideally, they are using their own power to go their distance, but leave room for individual adaptation where necessary. Biking, swimming, rowing, etc. are welcome.
Medals do not ship until after the official race day. Participants can complete their race whenever they choose, but that "race day" will be the day that all timetables are based on. In order to be awarded a finisher medal, there is a 30-day grace period to report your finish time (following the start of the race). Multiple people may be added to a registration. All participants are tied to the main registrant. Only that registrant will get updates about the race and their email address will be needed to report the finish time.
Messages regarding the race come from email@example.com. Please add that address to your safe list.
Shirt Registration Deadline
Register by September 27 and your shirt and/or bib will arrive just before the race
Shirts are no longer available, but you can still get a bib & medal (see shipping timelines below)
Registration will be open through the deadline listed above.
To be considered in the competitive portion of this race, you must complete a run on Strava 10/17-11/1. If you do not have a race entry during that time, you can still earn a finisher medal, but you will not qualify for placement in the Compete Score™ results.
All participants that want a Compete Race medal will need to report their finish time to their VRC account.
Medals must be earned by finishing the race. This helps us maintain the spirit of the traditional race experience. We'll begin shipping medals after the race to those participants who:
Added a medal to their registration AND reported their finish time (by the reporting deadline)
Shirts and bibs are printed specifically for each participant. Shirts and bibs ship regardless of whether your time is reported. All swag ships separately. Once a registration is complete (paid for), it cannot be changed. Registrations are processed according to the timelines below. Due to manufacturing and international shipping constraints, if the color of the shirt you select is out of stock, the next closest color will automatically be substituted for you. Click here to download your own generic digital bib PDF.
Early Bird Shirt/Bib Shipment Deadline: Register by September 27, 2020 and your shirt and/or bib will arrive around October 17, 2020. (Note: after 9/27, shirts will no longer be available)
Final Bib Deadline: Register by November 1, 2020 and add a bib to your registration and it will arrive around November 20, 2020
All swag ships separately. Shirts & Medals ship with a tracking email from firstname.lastname@example.org. Bibs are sent first class with a stamp.
All items will ship according to the timelines listed for each items in this dropdown.
To be considered in the Compete Scoring, you will need to track your race using Strava. We will verify results using the data Strava provides.
Otherwise, for tracking your distance and time, you can use whatever app or system that works best for you. All we need is the finish time. We use the honor system to verify results, so if you say you did, we have no reason to not believe you.
Results will be posted after the close of the race.
This event is only available as a 5K
Your race must be recorded in Strava between October 17, 2020 and November 1, 2020.
If you do not race during that period, you will not qualify for the results in the Compete Scoring system.
