Cookie Monster’s Friend-chip Challenge
Benefitting Sesame Workshop's Yellow Feather Fund
Nothing is sweeter than friendship... except maybe cookies!
Run, walk, hike, swim, roll, cycle, paddle, or crawl your way to the finish line and be rewarded with a limited edition friend-chip medal! Cookie Monster challenges you to choose your distance – 5k, 10k, or 13.1 miles – conquer it, and thank someone who helped you achieve your goal.
Your medal magnetically connects to a second bonus medal, specially designed for you to give to a special person in your support system.
We've partnered with Sesame Workshop, the non-profit behind Sesame Street, to bring you this officially licensed challenge that can be done on your own time and in any location. Click to learn more about Sesame Workshop.

This race has changed my life. When I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia over five years ago, I thought my race days were over. This challenge has motivated me to get up each morning and do what I can - and over time I've been able to do more and more. I'm now running 3 miles on most days and the possibility of doing an in-person race is becoming a reality.

This challenge was a much needed work-out motivator after the end of 2020. What I didn’t anticipate was a truly inspirational online group supporting each other in our mile-by-mile journey. I was told there would be cookies, but have gotten so much more out of this experience!

Choose between traditional race distances of 5k (3.1 miles), 10k (6.2 miles), and a half marathon (13.1 miles). The distance you choose is entirely up to you.
Reporting your finishing 5k, 10k, or half marathon time for this event is not required. All registrants will receive both medals.
If you'd like to share your race success with us, click here to report your time. The reporting deadline is December 31, 2021.
There’s a special Facebook group for Sesame Street Races & Challenges. We believe it’s one of the most positive corners of the internet, where members share their achievements and cheer each other on. Joining the group is entirely voluntary.
We find some of our participants like to do multiple Virtual Running Club events at once. If you want to double-dip – that is, apply your miles to multiple events – you have our full permission to do so. Choose whatever works best for you!
