Introducing the world's 1st competitive virtual race!

How is this different than other virtual races?

Virtual races are typically honor-system based. Run. Report your time. Get your medal. That's cool, but sometimes you're in the mood to compete!

THIS race will take 6 variables into account:

  • Run Distance
  • Run Duration
  • Elevation Change
  • Dew Point / Humidity
  • Temperature
  • Wind
PLUS - the person with the highest verified Compete score will win $150!

We dump all these variables into our proprietary algorithm to generate your Compete Scoreâ„¢.

Running in bad conditions used to give you a disadvantage.

Not anymore!
This levels the playing field for everyone, regardless of the course they ran on or the weather during their run.
The more you suffer, the better your score!

Can I still run when/where it's convenient for me?

Absolutely, you'll still run on your own terms. But running in 68 degrees on a flat course in San Diego won't give you an advantage over someone running up hills in Montana in 110 degree weather.

This race is open to both casual and serious runners/walkers. Don't wait! See where you stack up by signing up today.

How much does it cost?

Registration starts at just $29.95 and includes a medal and FREE Shipping! (Everything is a la carte, so you can get just the swag you want.)

Tell Me More

A virtual race has typically been a great way to have some fun and earn some great bling, but never has it had the same level of anticipation and competition as an in-person race – Until Now!

Introducing the world's first competitive virtual race. Participants can still do their race on their own time and when/where they choose, but using the proprietary "Compete Score", it levels the field.

The Compete Score takes into account speed, duration, elevation change, temperature, dew point, and wind to give all participants a specific score that can be compared regardless of when or where the individual races took place.

All participants interested in being considered in the results using a Compete Score will need to register for this race AND create an account at competerunning.com. You will also need a Strava account to sync to the Compete site. We suggest you sync your Strava and Compete Running accounts soon so you can start to track your runs and get an idea of what your baseline is.

Then the race will take place from October 17 through November 1. You will need to choose one of your runs during that period and submit that through the Compete Running website. After all scores are submitted, we will tabulate and verify results and release the rankings of who won!

Awards will be given to overall winners and gender and age-group winners.

In addition, our standard rules for virtual races apply. See more here:

To honor the spirit of traditional races, we require that anyone that registers for a medal can only earn their medal by finishing their race. We verify that a race is finished using the honor system by having participants report their finish time to their VRC account (created during the registration process & tied to the email address entered). Participants can take as long as they need to finish their race and can do it however works best for them. Most participants walk, run or hike their race and ideally, they are using their own power to go their distance, but leave room for individual adaptation where necessary. Biking, swimming, rowing, etc. are welcome.

Medals do not ship until after the official race day. Participants can complete their race whenever they choose, but that "race day" will be the day that all timetables are based on. In order to be awarded a finisher medal, there is a 30-day grace period to report your finish time (following the start of the race). Multiple people may be added to a registration. All participants are tied to the main registrant. Only that registrant will get updates about the race and their email address will be needed to report the finish time.

Messages regarding the race come from [email protected] Please add that address to your safe list.

Reporting

To be considered in the Compete Scoring, you will need to track your race using Strava. We will verify results using the data Strava provides.

Otherwise, for tracking your distance and time, you can use whatever app or system that works best for you. All we need is the finish time. We use the honor system to verify results, so if you say you did, we have no reason to not believe you.

To report your finish time to earn a finisher medal, click here and follow the prompts. This video shows what the process looks like.

Results

Results will be posted after the close of the race.
